The project focuses on promoting sustainable aquaculture practices to enhance food security, empower women in the fishing industry, and protect marine ecosystems. The project will involve establishing community-based aquaculture systems in coastal regions, ensuring the production of nutritious seafood to combat hunger and malnutrition (SDG 2). By providing training and resources to women, the project aims to empower them to actively participate in the aquaculture sector and promote gender equality (SDG 5). The project will emphasize the inclusion of women in decision-making processes, leadership roles, and access to credit and resources. Furthermore, the project will incorporate sustainable practices in aquaculture to minimize environmental impact and protect marine biodiversity (SDG 14). This includes implementing responsible fish farming techniques, minimizing the use of antibiotics and chemicals, and utilizing efficient water and waste management systems. The project will also promote the restoration and conservation of coastal ecosystems, thereby safeguarding marine habitats and preserving biodiversity. Through the integration of these three SDGs, the project seeks to achieve multiple positive outcomes, such as enhanced food security, improved livelihoods for women, reduced poverty, increased gender equality, and the preservation of marine ecosystems. By addressing these interrelated goals, the project contributes to the overall sustainable development agenda, fostering a more equitable and environmentally conscious society.
